ok, so did some searching here...noticed my cruise stopped working. The last time I used it it would seem to just stop working at random, and you'd find out of the blue you'd suddenly be decelerating. Horn works, no airbag light flashing, since most threads reference the clock spring. Any suggestions on what to look for? I read something about a vac line under the dash in one post, but would imagine that would be odd for the vac line to be there. Any one who has gone through this feel free to chime in. I would think if it was a vac line in the engine compartment it would just not work at all, since last time it worked it would just keep shutting off.

it can shut off randomly for a number of reasons.

in the passenger compartment, there is a vacuum line that will dump the vacuum to the cruise servo if either the brake or clutch pedal are pressed. if the sensor/valves are misadjusted or bad, or if there is a leak somewhere, then the cruise can randomly stop working.

if the clockspring or the switches on the steering wheel are bad, then the system can just shut off.

under the hood, there are vacuum lines running to the servo, and if they have cracks in them, then they can leak sometimes and not others.

if the vss is sick, it can fail to send the right signal to the pcm, and that can cause the cruise to disengage.

digging through all the possibilities can be a challenge, but you should be able to figure it out.

checked all the vac lines, in side under the dash and under the hood, all look good. The cable from the servo looks fine. no faults in the eec, so speed sensor is ok, even took the airbag off and looked at the switches, everything looks ok visually in there. no airbag light after the bulb check when you start the car, so guessing the clock spring is good.

Both times I had the issue on two different Gen 2s, it was the very end of the vacuum line under the dash that screwed up. Might just snip off a short piece and reconnect.

Check the vacuum line that goes into the bake pedal. I have seen that hose split because it rubs the steering universial joint.

I looked at it before, and the hose looks fine both where it plugs onto the brake pedal, and where it loops around behind and above the steering column. I will take a look again.
