Hello.

This car has had the recall retrofit that is mentioned as a sticky. The cruise control worked for a few weeks before I had the recall done and for about 6 months after it was done. Cruise control worked fine until yesterday when I went for a 4 hour drive up the interstate. After I parked it, and came back out a few hours later and the cruise control wouldn't engage. When I got home and popped the hood one of the 2-amp fuses that they installed with the retrofit was popped. I replaced it with another fuse but still no cruise control. I still have dash and interior lights and everything else just no cruise.

What would you suggest I look for next? What should I check next?

Most CC issues are vacuum related. I never bothered to fix it in my old car but the info should be available somewhere in here.

No. The 93-95 ATX does NOT use vacuum for CC operation. It is all electronic.

In all probability, the suspect switch on the bottom of the master cylinder has failed (leaking). Replace the switch and the fuse (or the harness, if applicable).

If you really "need" your cruise, you can bypass the safety switch (like that's a good idea) by unplugging the recall harness from the OEM switch harness and use a short jumper to "make" the circuit. You can also do this to verify that the switch has failed.

If the switch has failed and the recall has already been performed, any needed repair will be at the owner's expense. Ford's obligation ended with making sure your car doesn't burn up due to a failure in that circuit. For a DIYer, you can purchase the switch and recall harness as a kit for a relatively modest price ($20-30 or less). XW7Z-9F924-BA per Supp #14 of 05S28 (unless it was superceded). About $11 plus shipping at RockAuto.com

Well, since I am not yet fireproof I would like to leave the recall kit in place. I will try bypassing the safety switch and see if the cruise kicks in like it should to verify the problem. If that is it then I'll hook the harness back up and replace the safety switch.

Yup, that was it. Bypassed the pressure switch and it worked fine. I looked down at the switch and you can see where there was oil on it and in the old brake harness. Looks like ford SHOULD have replaced it but didn't since it wasn't popping fuses yet. Either that or it just started leaking in the past 6 months without getting it on the new harness :)

So anyways, thanks for the help. I have no idea how I'm going to get to the stupid thing though. Looks like it may actually be a good job for a flex head wrench. Anyone got any clue what size the thing is? 10mm?
