I have a 94atx. Just in the past couple days I have noticed that my car gets more throttle by its own when stopped at a light. You will see the RPM's shoot up to a good 1200-1400rpm... any thoughts on this?

cruise control fault? it doesn't even work should I just remove it? the cables going to the TB for that look pretty gnarly anyhow.... possible other problem? IAC maybe? anyone run into this problem before?

could be the IAC, it completely controls the idle speed. does it do it in all gears? Drive, park, neutral...?

try disconnecting the battery, and stepping on the brake pedal for about 30 seconds, to wipe the computer. that might help.

My 93ATX did the same thing until I changed the IAC valve. I purchased the IAC valve from Rockauto for around $60.

Problem solved.

38SHO,

I have a similar situation on my 95 ATX two years ago. I replaced my IAC valve which I purchased from Ford Parts Network and I never had the problem since. Good Luck.
