OKay so awhile ago I posted on here about my sho not shifting out of first gear when its cold. Then as I was reading a reply I think I found my problem. When I get into the car and start it up I let it warm up for about 5 mins before driving it. Now my shifter will be in between nuetral and drive It never crossed my mind that a misadjusted shifter cable could be causing symptoms like this. Car starts idles perfect wont shift out of first gear for a while until it gets warmed up. car also will not go into passing gear when at WOT. also At a stop I can put it into first but driving the car once into second gear I cant put it in first to manually downshift. This is something I am looking forward to fixing so I can put insurance on it and get my DL back the great state of MN insurance laws. So if anyone wants to help out that would be excellent. Also have replaced the VSS and cold anyone tell me what the two prong plugs is for on the drivers side of tranny.

On the top of the mlps there is an alignment mark (showing nuetral, iirc). The trick is that the shifter arm on the trans has to be removed for you to see this mark. So, take off that arm, orient the mlps so the alignment mark is lined up, put the arm back on.

fyi, there are 2 adjustments, either or both could be off - one is the orientation of the mlps as it is mounted to the trans, the other is the location of where the shifter cable attaches to the trans shifter arm (the cable has a slotted end).

A misadjusted MLPS will wreck your day. I couldn't run a KOER on my car for weeks because the car has to be in park for the test to start and the MLPS never got into park. I thought the ECU had crapped itself. Reverse lights wouldn't work, the tranny never shifted right... all sorts of crap. I've posted the procedure for adjusting your MLPS on here before but suffice to say lining up the marks ain't gonna cut it. I'll see if I can find it and post it.

More than likely worn out. You can test the outputs of it as they are a unique resistance for each position.
