Just picked up a green 94 ATX. Equipped with Bulldog securty alarm and remote start. The engine would crank but would not get spark or fuel. I found the problem in the power distribution box. The 10A fuse for the IGN coil was blown. Installed a new one and that solved the problem. The fuel pump was now working and the car actually started for a few seconds, only to die out again because the fuse blew (again). My guess is part of the alarm system is acting up - either a shorted wire / bad ground somewhere. I friend had a dodge with the same problem - the IGN fuse would always blow. Turned out to be something with his bulldog alarm - so im guessing i have the same problem. Anyone here have this problem? What else would cause a condition like this other than the alarm system?

Im still in shock at what great condition it is in. I have pics if someone would be kind enough to host. :hail:

Comments, suggests, etc are greatly appreciated...

When my coolant level sensor burned out, it shorted that exact fuse. However, when I replaced the fuse it didn't blow because I had disconnected the coolant level sensor.

Try disconnecting the coolant level sensor, located on top of the coolant reservoir, then replace the fuse to see if it keeps it from blowing again.

I assume you picked up that SHO for cheap, considering the fuel pump was "off" due to the fuse. That little button in the trunk saved me money! :naughty:

Disconnect the alarm system, then replace the fuse. If it blows again you've got more issues than the alarm system.

I have had a lot of personal experience with the Bulldog brand (fortunatelyor unfortunately), a lot of my friends have purchased them, what i have found out is that alot of the times, the fuses that come with the system tend to MELT! and not even BLOW! So my suggestion is to find the brain box and look at the wires and find the fuse/fuse holder and take a good look. It might not be a big "melting" but take a good look and replace them with some decent fuses. Also then try disconnecting the ground from the brain box for a few seconds.

Also, you just got this car correct? And it's had this problem ever since? Did the system work before you got the car? Well I would go to the bulldog site and look for the .pdf under install manuals link for your system. (Should say which model number on the brain box) What i would look for is a secure connection going to your ignition wires under the dash for the remote starter. Another problem might be, seeing as it's an alarm also, the guy might have hooked up the starter imobilizer up wrong.

Well just my $.02 ;)
