I replaced the pass side CV Axel about 26,000 miles ago. On the way home from work the outer boot must have torn (Grease all down the side of the car) :oogle: I got a boot kit from NAPA cause I know the joint is still good. The issue is the kit did not come with a new nut:madflame: So does any one know where you can purchase just the nut with out having to buy the whole damn axel. The aftermarket parts manufacturers do to just **** us off.

Why do you need a new nut? It is re-useable. If you destroyed it, you should be able to get one from any local auto parts store in the "help section"

While it's better to get a new nut, people do reuse them all the time. I've reused them quite a bit with no trouble.

Thanks so much for the info... I was always told not to re-use, but SHO owners know best :thumb: . I will just reuse so I can get my baby back on the road.

I have always reused mine, except for the time Raxles included two new ones for me. I suggest a drop of red Loc-Tite as I've had one loosen up on me. I found this out as I was hearing a noise at low speed when I was off the brakes.

It turned out that my rotor was making contact with my Wilwood caliper. It eventually fried the bearing before I caught it. That's okay 'cause $25 got me a 50k miles junkyard knuckle with everything complete.

This reminds me, I should check them on my car now as I've got just under 1,300 miles on the car since I put everything back in.... That's a lot of nuts and bolts to ensure didn't come loose.

the axle nuts rely on lots of friction from the outer lip being bent inward to stay tight, don't be afraid to whack your nuts with a big hammer so they won't go a wanderin' :oogle:

put lots of torque on them too

If you decide you DO want new ones, I think I may have a package of them left (4, maybe?).

But yes, they get re-used all the time.

Thanks for the offer, Got the new boot on and just re-used the nut. Drove about 160 miles some of it hard and rechecked the tourque, it was still good. Thanks to everyone for all the help...:)
