Well I think my tranny in my 93atx finally ate it. I was getting ready to leave work yesterday and when i started to take off it just lurched and then wouldnt go. It actually sounded like it was not going all the way in gear and was making a weird noise. Reverse still worked till i was trying to back it up a small hill to tow it and then it sounded like it poped out of gear and now no gears work. Has anybody with a 93atx ever have this problem. I dont really wanna spend 2k to have it rebuilt right now. Anybody need a 93 sho atx.

havent had that problem and hope I never do, but don't get it rebuilt, just get a used one for 3-400 bucks and put that in instead.

EDIT: oh yeah and if you still have the stock 93 computer you can blame that for the tranny exploding, get a D4U1 computer it helps.

When the trans in my '93 went it was after a trip home, it made the whole long trip then when I got off at the exit it pulled away from the stop sign but after about 5 feet it slipped out of gear and made random grinding noises. After that it only worked in reverse. I've since swapped in one from a '94.

yea it did have some other symptoms. when it was cold it shifted hard, but when warm it shifted soft. also when i would take off from a dead stop too quick it kinda slipped. so what year sho trans will work in a 93 if i decide to put one in. thanks everybody.

Yup get the 94 trans. And think you need to get the D4UI? I'm still learning to. I have an atx.

from what i hear if your going to replace it,you want to upgrade by getting a 94 or 95 tranny.and i think you need the TC as well with the cpu from the 94-95. you might be able to run a search and you should be able to find the info your lookin for.gl

ok this is kinda off the subject, but i have many parts out of my 89 mtx including engine and trans. how do i list them in the classified and who do i pay. i would be willing to trade some stuff for a 94 atx trans. the motor and trans had i think about 160,000 miles on them. many other items also including doors and other misc.

The '93s came out with a lame single clutch TC. I don't know if Ford fixed this during the '93 year or waited until the '94 year.

94 95 have more splines on TC a little stronger pump shaft. some say the 94 95 computer is better than the 93 on the shifts / pressures. others say there is no difference you would want a 94 95 SHO trans to replace it ( not really a great idea unless you can find a low mileage one or rebuild it with all the updates including a shift kit
