Between my friends and I we have a '93 SHO MTX and two '95 SHO MTXs. My friend's '93, even with the smaller front brakes, will embarass both '95s when it comes to braking. The pedal effort on the '93 is perfect, the car stops hard, and anti-lock is relatively easy to engage on dry roads. Both '95s require MUCH more pedal effort to slow them down and the take much longer to stop. It is nearly impossible to get the brakes into anti-lock, even in the wet.
My '95 has a completely rebuilt braking system, including all new lines, calipers, rotors, booster, m/c, and fluid, and I'm running PF pads, and pedal feels only slightly better than my friend's '95 with all original stuff except fluid, PF pads, and rotors. The '93 has 140K with original hardware, and is running 911 pads.
Anyone have any idea why the brakes on BOTH of the '95s are so crappy, while the '93 feels perfect? Is this inherent to the SHOs with the larger brakes? They do improve significantly once the pads get some heat in them, but are still unacceptable.
