Hey, I'm new here. But I figure this is the right spot to ask people who know the SHO questions.

I'm 18, and looking into a 93 SHO. It needs minor exhaust work, nothing major.

But I was wondering what I would need to do to make this work.

This Turbo

My brother and father are mechanics, and told me they would help me, fi I figured this all out.

I was also looking into This clutch, but I'm not sure what I would need. SO I need all the help I can get.

Thanks for the help!

I would not touch that kit at all. It is very generic made with cheap parts. It would be better to wait for the bolt on kit we are working on.

I am not sure on their clutch but you need a least a stage 3 clutch. I recommend South Bend that we offer here: SHO Source

Not sure about that kit. but if Loudsho says its junk, its junk.

Also welcome to the forum :thumb:

If you do a quick search on the forum there is a TON of info on supporting mods for a turbo/forced induction setup.

Good luck with the build.

Even I can tell you it's junk. They are trying to sell their products and compete with everybody else, so they use cheaper materials to produce certain parts, but as for turbo, it may last you a month or two and then may shatter in small pieces and will go inside your engine and that would be it. There are only certain things you can use from these kits like plumming , intercooler, etc.
If you're considering about buying Honda civic, then it doesn't matter what you put on it, but for SHO, has to be quality parts.

The turbo kit is junk as stated. SHOsource is working a nice bolt on kit so wait for that. As far as the clutch goes I am running a centerforce clutch and it is the best one I have had. I have had the stock clutch and the south bend clutch and both failed very early.

As for clutch, my car doesn't have any forced induction on it , yet, but when I changed my clutch, i ordered custom clutch, which is kevlar and ceramic, for the purpose of going turbo one day. This clutch takes beating no, problem so far and company who made it for me, garanteed that it would not burn out like Clutchmasters did. I paid around $360 for the whole clutch kit for my car, but I'm warning you! it chatters.

That is just a generic ricer turbo "kit".
Do a search and some reading and you will see what all is needed.
As far as clutches go,I'm still on my stock style stage 1 and it holds fine for 7 lbs boost.

We've still got a kit in stock.

TurboPipes

The turbo mounts in the back and all the charge piping goes from the turbo to the intake in stealth. The kit is designed to easily bolt on. You'll need fuel system mods, injectors, tuning, boost controller and a MAF, but you can easily install it in the garage with hand tools.

100 1403

The kit comes with the turbo and all the plumbing! It comes with a complete oiling system, engine to filter, to cooler, to turbo and a pump to get it back to teh engine. It comes with all ceramic coated exhaust, y-pipe, hot pipes to turbo, down pipe and muffler. It comes with all the charge piping, K&N filter at turbo, aluminum charge piping from turbo to intake with all couplers and harware. It even comes with a blow off valve and waste gate.

100 1402

100 1406

100 1424

The kit sells for $4800, plus shipping.

We also have a clutch to mate with this kind of power, that sells for $680. I can include a turned flywheel and rear main seal set for $200, plus shipping, of coarse.

He's 18 and looking at an eBay turbo... Do you really think he's interested in a $5k+ kit?

However, if he thinks $5k+ is too much, he should probably stop his SHO boosting through process now.

lol sorry for a long reply, but I was just doing a fast search on turbo kits.

I don't see 5k as too much, it would take another 2 months of saving up, but if I can get some serious power from it, I'd definitely get the setup. I'd prefer a diverter valve than a blow off. But beggers can't be choosers.

Once this kit is released, I'd jump on it.

Maybe he jus thit the lotto....but then why would he have a 16yr old SHO?

Maybe he can tell the difference between cheap chinese crap and a quality engineered kit?

Nothing wrong with wanting to turbo your sho. Before you worry about power adders make sure all the regular maintenance is up to date.

lol sho dude, I got a nice job right out of highschool, 15/hour. and benefits.
I wanted a SHO since I was 16, but waited till I was 18 to get my license. I got it, and am looking at the 93 SHO, or if possible to get to it.. a 94 SHO in Quincy, Mass. (being sold in the SHO trader) I just have to find a way to find the guy, I live about 2 hours from him.

But I did a fast search last night, saw a cheap price, and good words, and thought I'd ask. Because sometimes it's shit, sometimes it's just a good deal. But turns out it was shiiit.

I don't mind dumping 5k into the car. I'd just need to get some help to find a MTX tranny that'll handle the power. Because I'm told the stock tranny is shit for the SHO, as it's meant for the power and weight of the non SHO?

Not a problem.

But I've only been doing this for a little while.

The SHO tranny is good till around 350ftlb which is a good amount actually. There have been some gear sets made for the MTX.
