A little history: The car has 98K miles on it ans has been gone through. Lots of new parts. Fuel filter, air filter, plugs, wires, tires, brakes, battery, starter, clutch, yada, yada....

Anyway, I don't think it needs much as far as regular maintenance and surley not stuff that could cause bad milage.

I've mostly drove it in town and have only romped on it (shifting at about 6K) 2/3 times in the last tank of gas. It has been HOT here so the air has been on too...

Am I expecting too much out of it or do I have a problem or did jumping on it a few times really **** the milage?

Last tank, with a 1/4 left was 223 miles and it took 11.5 gallons to fill it up.

I'm wondring about the stock Y pipe. Seems to run good though. Hmmm....

TIA ~ Matt.

In town, sounds about right. All highway I would imagine you'd see 26-28.

Exactly. Consider that it's a big heavy car to get moving from stop-light to stop-light. Once it's moving however, it's all momentum. =)

19 sounds about right as the others have stated. I recall my wife getting 21 or so around town in her MTX. We generally got 26-28 on the highway in that car. Just don't lug the engine around town, drive it normal and all will be well.

I averaged 26 this past weekend with 60% highway and 40% city/spirited mountain driving with the AC on the entire time. I get closer to 30 all highway.

The AC on in the city is a big factor to mileage. If i'm not on the highway or my girl isn't with me then its windows down - AC off.

How do you shift? If you shift too soon or too late that will factor into your mileage. Do you use 5th gear when driving around the city? If i'm not doing over 50mph and still accelerating then I don't touch 5th. City driving you should only be going as high as 4th gear.

Thanks y'all! I feel better now, I guess.... I was hoping for more MPGs out of her but oh well. Maybe I'll try a little harder to keep my foot out of it and turn off the AC. Maybe I'll pick up a few MPGs.

That's about how I drive it. Never really get into 5th, it would be luggen' too much. I'd say I try to keep the Rs at about 2500-3000, shift at about 2250.

Also, I realize your Irish Pride may have to do with college football but just incase it does... I'm a Spartan (Michigan State) fan and I hope the Irish CRUSH the scUMy Wolverweenies this weekend!

Michigan, and USC. I hate both of them! The Navy game used to be a good one until the Weis era.
