Hi, Can anyone help with the removal and replacement of the alternator on my 93 SHO? It's a 6 cyl. 3.0.

Thanks, cshushu

as in, tell you how to do it? or come over and help you do it? Because alternator replacement has been covered a million times on this forum... all you need to do is search for it... but I'll give you the quick lowdown.

Remove alternator belt by loosening the tensioner pulley with an allen head. A long one. After the belt is off, there are four bolts that hold the alt on... two on the top, two on the bottom, under the alt. They are all 14mm, iirc. Don't forget to unplug the 3-wire connector and the big B+ cable on the side of it! And there you have it, your alt is off! The SHO is one of the easier cars to get an alt off of... ever tried to do an audi? lol

The missing steps...

Remove battery and tray. It's 2 10mm on the side and one in the bottom(have fun with the side bolts).

Loosen the tensioner PULLEY NUT....14mm...just crack it loose.

NOW you can use the 5mm "allen on a stick" to relieve the belt tension.

Remove belt from alternator. Remove the 3 bolts. One of them is facing the battery tray(14mm) and the other two are on the other side(mine are 15mm but are not original)., the electrical connector on the alternator and the 10mm nut holding on the large wire.

Wiggle the heck out of the alternator while pulling towards the headlights.

When you get ready to put the new alternator in, there is a sliding spacer on the back-rear that may need to be slid over...yull see what I'm talking about...
