Hey all! Anyone know where the "safing" sensor is located at on a 93 SHO? Got airbag code 22 & 24 - suspect either the module or wiring. Not really sure where the sensor is located at. Thanks!

I think I remember a diagram that has the safing sensor behind the driver side kick panel. I don't have my evtm manual anymore but i think a google search will have some successful results. I think 24 might be a monitor fault. You'll have to dig.
Maybe here will help but you have to login to see an answer. Maybe it will let you join? https://www.iatn.net/techhelp/60/2662/1997-ford-aerostar-4.0l-air-bag-light-on

Not sure where the safing sensor is. In the air bag diagnostic module? That is the blue box attached to the extreme right of the dash behind the glove box.

Looking at this maybe the safing sensor is the impact sensor? One on each side and the middle near the radiator.?? It's been a while but I think that is hwere they are. Maybe the sensor is bad.??? What do you think Nick?

Dug into this more today and here’s what I found:

Safing sensor is in the location listed above (drivers kick panel). Tested sensor per service manual and found circuit 613 shorted to ground within itself. Ordered NOS replacement, will confirm issue resolved after installing.
EDITED: Turns out I was following the guide on the page above the error code 22 page break (which was really for code 21) so my diagnosis was incorrect. 613 should have ground continuity at the sensor. (Imagine my puzzled expression when the new unit tested the exact same... back to the drawing board... oh wait... duh i'm an i.d.i.o.t.)

So after more diagnosis using the correct section of the page and pages that followed, i discovered the airbag diagnostic module to be faulty. (blue box behind the glovebox on the far right passenger side) It has resistors that only allow a specified voltage level on circuits 614 and 623. Mine was measuring 9v on 614. After tracing back and verifying it wasn't shorting from another source like the clock spring the diagnostic chart showed it to be a faulty module. Ordering a used replacement now.

Does anyone know of a company that repairs the old modules?
