If it is just a used replacement atx then i would suggest opening up the overdrive servo cover and checking to make sure that the c-clip is still intact and not broken. Once it is up in the car, removing the cover and putting it back on is a pain in the a$$. Also, you may want to change the oil and filter. If it is a totally new/rebuilt trans then disregard everything i said here. Good luck.

Get all your stuff ahead of time, including mounts for the tranny and the motor. Get sub-frame bushings, and exhaust studs as well.

When I replaced my ATX I pulled the motor/tranny together out the top...by myself.

The hardest part is disconnecting and removing everything.

Well that is a good question. It really depends on what condition the car is in.

When I pulled my motor/tranny - It has only been 80k since I had rebuilt the motor...so a lot of things I didn't replace.

However, the first time I had it out I replaced a ton of stuff.

When the motor/tranny is out it is a breeze to replace the rack - it is a bear with the motor in the car. It is really easy to replace the rear main seal on the motor.....

Make sure you replace the VSS on the tranny - that is nearly impossible with the tranny in the car.

It is a good time to replace all your hoses - because you will be disconnecting most of them anyway.

As previously mentioned it is also a good time to replace your mounts because you will have them disconnected too.
