im ready to accept that im not a mechanic, and i dont want to be.

in Seattle, WA, i have a partially disassembled blue 93 atx that i really want out of my garage. i dont even want to put it back together. ive pulled/ damaged (maybe) the exhaust, and the bottom end has been open for about 3 months, in a dryish basement garage. i put new rod bearings in, but broke my torque wrench before i could tighten down the caps, so all the oil pan type things are still off.

more about the car. i bought it early this year with about 180,000 showing on the OD, but took me awhile to realize that its been stuck there since at least 2009... speedometer is out also. i think its having trouble with the timing chain tentioner, all signs point to that, instead of the 'sticking lifter' that was diagnosed by prev owner.

im also pretty sure the crank sensor is out, based on this forum, and that was next on my list after the bearings. theres a trans leak, and an oil leak, but i think that was from a bad pan gasket.

the last mechanic on this car did some shoddy work, so there are lots of little messy things to clean up. i had to replace poorly patched battery wiring. stuff like that.

as far as i know, its ok other than those things, other than the interior being in pretty poor condition.

i payed 750 for the car as a project, but i got in way over my head. it ran pretty good for a few months, but i dont have the skill or patience.

i have pretty much all the parts for a full 60k, but im not including them in this posting, since i want to try to sell them for at least like half what i payed for them. i just really wanna get rid of this car, clear my mind...

$200, obo...

Even at that low price, it still takes a picture to move a car.

You sound pretty up on things for a guy who is in "over his head". You are about 5 hours away from driving your car out of your garage.

Good luck with your car.

ah, forgot pictures, and forgot to list my location. South Seattle, WA.

i did plenty of research and studying, so i feel like i have a decent understanding of how to do the things that need to be done, but my motivation is totally deflated. maybe 5 hours of work for someone that knows how, but for me...

ill have to post pictures after work though, when ive got time to figure out how haha...

I'm on the opposite side of the country from you. You could get $350 for the car from a recycler here, AND they will pick it up.

Have you looked into that option? If so, how much will the local recycler offer?

i havent gotten a quote from a recycle service yet, but thats plan B. Im very much into these cars, and this community, so i feel like it would break my heart even more to have it crushed. i figured at the very least someone might want the 3.2 block...

ill leave the posting up for a little longer, maybe post on CL, but by sometime next week ill just have to have it taken away, along with my faithful old Beauville van (heartbreak!).

i guess i thought this might be a softer way to let my dreams die, but hey, life goes on...
