Boy has a 1992 SHO, with Yamaha Dual OHC 3.0. I have been reading these forums to see if a timing belt failure would damage valves, etc. I think I am seeing these engines are non-interference and such an event would NOT harm the engine. Am I right?

Thanks,
Dennis

The Gen 1 and Gen 2 V6 SHO motors are non-interference.

the Gen3 ************* is an interference engine(with a VERY weak timing set design)

The only thing the timing belt breaking will cause is you to a) be stuck on the side of the road, and b) swear a lot. There will be no engine damage.

Now when you add bigger cams without changing pistons, you have an interfearence engine.
