I have a 1992 SHO .. Ive only had it about 6 months but its my 3rd sho and my 2nd 5 speed. about 2 months after purchasing the vehicle that car developed a miss that slowly became worst .. I have replaced the ignition wires with a $50 set of wires from autozone, replaced the spark plugs with autolite double platinum plugs and replaced the D.I.S module .. before doing the tune up the car idled very rough and had a small backfire when accelerating, eventually the car would only run if i stomped on the gas!! Immediately after the tune up at 1st start the car idled perfectly!! I thought my problem was cured, but upon the test drive as soon as I aggressively press the gas the car started bucking like a horse. back n forth back n forth.. had someone been ontop of the roof it would have thrown them off!! the car will no longer accelerate without doing this bucking, I assumed i must have done something wrong, I checked everything out including all the vacuum lines and sensors and electric connections but cant seem to find anything obvious. it going to a mechanic on Monday and i would love some clue as to what the **** I may have done.
Please Help

There still can be things you overlooked. First, are you sure you have the plug wires in correctly? It could also be a bad coil pack. Bucking on acceleration leans towards the coil pack. Also could be bad fuel pump, bad tps and on and on. Id start with coil pack. And also, check for coeds, even if there isnt a check engine light. It could be holding a hard code which can sometimes affect it.

My 92 did the same thing (bucking), turned out to be a bad cam sensor (though it could be something else). Did you pull your codes already? Once you have them, run them through the search function on this site. So far every problem I've had was fixed using this method.

THANK YOU GUYS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! Hopefully this information will ring true, any of those solutions are financially acceptable, I really hope it doesn't end up being something much more expensive ! It is however strange for those sensors to fail right after I did the tune up. I really thought I may have done something wrong, plugs were gapped correctly and replaced wires one at a time, so as not to mess up the firing order.

I just had similar issues with my 94 ATX, I changed plugs, TPS, Cam Sensor . it imprived but still had the Miss at Idle. I was the coil pack, shorting across in side the pack. Pop the hood at night or in the garrage with the lights out . thats when I notice the Coil Pack Lighting up.

Were your old spark plugs and wires covered in oil? Have you pulled the engine codes (just because the check engine light is not on doesn't mean there are no trouble codes stored.)

my car is going to the shop this morning at 8am, they're going to put it on a scope. and just FYI my original plugs were full of oil. I will post the results and the final fix here.

is there a way to pull those codes by jumping the terminals at the connection? I don't own a scanner and no one checks OBD 1 anymore around here . in the state of IL, only OBD II equipped cars are required to test for emissions.

If your spark plugs were covered in oil you need to have your valve cover gaskets replaced. Look at the link below on how to read the engine codes. The only tool you need is a paper clip to short the diagnostic connector - no scanner is needed.

THANKS EVERYONE FOR ALL YOUR HELP! You know when your having car problems and you choose to fix your car yourself using forums and any other way of obtaining the info u need it can begin to feel like your throwing unnecessary parts into your car when those parts don't solve your problem. This all started with a miss, replaced the D.I.S module but it didn't work. Replaced the plugs and wires and it seemed to actually get worse not to mention changing the intake manifold gasket. BUT I should have listened t all my fellow SHO owners here on this site. I wouldn't have had to spend have an additional $200 .. After a scope test, it turned out to be the ignition coil. RAN absolutely fine as long as you didn't jump on it but utterly failed under W.O.T .. So thanks again.. car is flying like a bat out of **** again!! :)
