this problem is driving me nuts because I just can't figure it out, it's been doing this for a few months now...first of all, it's really hard to get it started sometimes. most of the time, it runs just fine, but sometimes it goes into some weird trance...and I'm stuck at 2k rpm it won't go up, and it won't usually stall (it does stall if it happens while idling). it does this intermittently and causes me to **** around and bucks.

The oil well seals are fine, spark plugs and wires are new, CEL never comes on (I'll check codes, anyways in a few minutes) I'll change the Fuel Filter and see what that does...

I also agree with DIS. when I didnt have the manifold ground properly connected, I experienced similar problems. Check for engine codes and check the ground.

I had a similar problem with bucking. Just picked it up off the boat in New Orleans (shipped from Germany) Car started bucking and Tach would get stuck and stall here and there. Ended up being a cam positioning sensor, the dealer found it and car was not even kicking a code.

The way it sounds being intermittent and all... could very well be a loose or corroded connector on that cam sensor, or dis for that matter. Double check your grounds! :)

just because a ground is securely fastened doesnt mean its a good connection. You need a low resistive path from the sensor to ground/ECU. If cam sensor doesn't work make sure the ground strap has a "good" connection and touching shiny metal. A few ohms can offset sensor values causing poor performance.
