My car has been sitting for a few weeks and my battery died ...I have a new 800 CCA battery that I recently replaced so I took to get recharged and yesterday I pug the battery back in and as soon as I turned the key it killed power instantly without any cranking ...I then started playing with the terminals and I had juice again 2nd time I turned the key and nothing again it killed power so I took the battery back to the store to get tested and it was good still holding all CCAs so I tried jumping the car several times and still kills power with the turn of a key I've asked questions and most people told me it could be my ignition switch or something with the connections but I've traced over everything and all my battery terminals are properly secured I just can't figure out why I'm suddenly having this issue smh ...I need ya help

Clean up your battery cables. Sounds like they don't have a good connection. Might need to get some new ones if they are too corroded.

The cables can be corroded inside the insulation. If you had any corrosion on the terminals before odds are its inside the cables too. Run jumper cables directly from the battery to the starter and see if it starts that way. If so, replace the cables.

and if you still have problems after the cables then look into the starter/solenoid assembly

check the other end of the cables.
any condition that causes a good battery to drop big time can easily heat up the wires and cause a fire.
put a voltmeter across the battery posts, not the cable ends., does the voltage drop more than a small fraction?
if the battery stays up its the wiring in the car.
put leads between the neg POST and the engine block, if there is voltage there while trying to start its the ground cable.
put leads between the pos POST and the starter post, voltage there is a bad pos cable.

Is the voltage across the battery terminals approaximately 12.7V? Do the headlights burn brightly when you turn them on; with high beam? Are the battery terminals clean? If yes to all, check the battery cable connections at the starter solenoid and transmission case. Then suspect a bad starter.
