Was out at the hardware store today, buying lag bolts for the treehouse I'm building for Liam and Grace. Swung into Irving to gas up and while I was pulling out a gentleman in a Currant Red '91 was in traffic. I waved and gave him the thumbs up, and he waved me in. We drove for a minute or so and pulled into a bank parking lot to chat.
Turns out he used to work in Marketing for Ford for about 30 years and knew quite a bit about the marketing idea behind the SHO back in the day. He loved the car but not because he was a car-guy or an enthusiast per se, but just for what it was. They lived in Boston for years and it spent much of it's life parked while he took the T, hence the 48k on the odometer. The paint on the car is dull, but in good shape aside from some clear coat peel on the roof and one mirror and a few chips here and there. Rust free. Here's another interesting not, Plus hood, but none of the other indicators and no Rod shifter. He had just been thinking of bringing it to a local shop (who, incidentally just finished a very nice '86 SVO Mustang last week...) for some freshening.
We spoke for about 20 minutes and he was very interested in the community so perhaps we will see more of him. A very nice guy for sure and he's very interested about SHO Convention '09!
