hey I got a PS rack leak and wondering it I can use a SLO rack in my 91 SHO
it leaks out the passenger side seal. I don't think you can buy a seal for that.
help me out please I am missing my 91 + summers almost over:)
By the way i live in Canada so don't bother mentioning Auto Zone for parts :)

Yes, you can use the SLO rack. :thumb: I believe that it has a different ratio, though.

The only difference between the SLO and SHO racks are the nylon stops which keep the wheels from turning far enough to nick the plastic flaps in the fender well. (My mind is wandering this morning and the proper term for that flap eludes me at the moment.)

Anyway...it is easy enough to remove those nylon spacers from your old rack once you get it out and install them in your new SLO rack. They are C shaped and are white-ish in color. Just undo the boot where it connects to the innermost part of the rack and you'll see them. They may be crushed though, so you may have to search a junk rack out in a boneyard to find another set. I had 2 spare racks here aside from the one on my car and I ended up pulling all 4 (out of the 2 racks) to get 2 good spacers.

As Beth stated, the racks are physically the same. I have the A1 Cardone 22-214 rack install in my car without the spacers and have only minor contact with the plastic splash shields aft of the axle centerline when at full lock. (I rarely use full lock due to the high power steering system pressures it creates). The rack mentioned above is $69.99 at O'Reilly where the SHO-specific 22-228 is $198.99. I wonder if there is also a valving difference because the OEM Gen I SHO rack had a higher than usual resistance.
