it really depends on the tire, but stock is 6 inches wide and uses a 215 tire. i have 7 inch wide rims and use a 225, but i've heard of people using anything up to 245 on a 7 inch wide tire. for 8 inches i'd say 235 at least, 245 is very doable.

I've got 235s on my stock slicers....If I were you, I'd step up to a 245...but that's just me.

Thanks for the quick responses gentlemen....

After a few mins. of research many state that the 235's will be just fine for an 8in. wide wheel so im kinda leaning to the 235's. Im just "iffy" on how the 245's mite fit on the 8inch wide wheels?

it all comes down to sidewall bulge. if you don't like it, i'd stay with 235s but if you dont mind a little bulge, 245 will be fine. any tire will have a reccomended rim width as well as a usable range.

If it makes a difference, the wheels are Mille Miglia MM11-2's. I am not too sure on the offset for these?

Looks like the offset for them is 42mm.

Would the 245/45/17's rub against the struts? The wheels are a 42mm offset from what i understand.

My 17X8 OZ have 35mm offset. No rubbing against the strut but I need to cut and roll the rear fenders so my 235/45WR-17 tires would clear. The GEN 2 SHO have more room in the rear fenders.

I've got a set of the same wheels. I'm going to run a 225/50/17 so hopefully I won't have to run a spacer to keep the tires off the struts.

From what i have read, there wont be any clearence issues with these wheels. So your going to run 225's on a 8inch wide wheel?

With 245s and a 42mm offset, you're going to be really close to the strut like K-Dawg said. I wouldn't run 245s unless traction is an issue.

With 245 tires it depends on the manufacturer. I had Yoko 245s on my 8" rims and had no rubbing, but with 245 Toyos on my 7.5" rims there's some rubbing against the strut in the rear.

hmm. Where'd you find those?

Just go with 235's to be safe. Fred has 245's on the 17X8 MMII's on his gen1. He has slight rubbing issues in the rear, and had to space them out, but is clear in the front.

:p Super Coupes have the same bolt pattern as we do.

Either way i think i am gonna go with a 235 tire. The tires that are on it now, which are bald are 235/55's. I like the way the 235 fit over it and i think if i could find a 235/50 tire, i would get it.

If you can find a tire in that size that you want, it would be almost identical to the stock 215/60/16 and be perfect for our cars.
However there's a very limited selection of tires in this size.

Here's a shot of 235/40/18's on an 8" wide wheel.

Orland06

Any wider and they would definitely hit my strut.

Whats the offset for those wheels John?

I'm looking to get some 245/40/18s for a set of 8" wide wheels with 37 or 38mm offset, I *think* there should be enough clearence.

Mine have a 40mm offset. You should be ok with the added 2-3mm offset. What kinda wheels did ya find?
