'89 mtx is giving me some troubles

Ok i'm moving and need to sell this '89 mtx, But it blows coolant out the overflow, mechanics and common sense told me a stuck closed thermostat, so i took it out, but can't afford a new one i cut the restriction out of the thermostat, so that i could keep the little gasket in there, and put it back together, but it's still doing it lightly, so i'm figuring a bad radiator cap, anyone else have some thoughts? or should i just sell it as-is for 400$ and walk away?

That could be a bad thing. I would say that if the coolant starts to rise in the overflow once the engine is warm, then start with a radiator cap. If it is instant, then it almost sounds as if you may have a head gasket failure.

it starts to do it after maybe....20 minutes, doesn't do it real hard.
