89 Interior Lights (Moonroof)

Getting my headliner replaced next week; found 1 of the 2 dome light covers in the glovebox. Here's the issue--it won't "snap" onto the light assembly; it's as if the assembly is recessed further above the headliner. It has 2 simple lights above each B pillar on either side. Also, one of the bulbs is burnt out, no big deal, I can replace it.

Should I get 2 new light assemblies? If so, I'll need to post a WTB.

I need 2 assemblies that go to the cover in the below pic (or how to make the ones I have work). I broke the tab on the cover trying to get it on, but, like I said, the light assembly itself seems to be recessed further into the headliner. Also, does anyoe have a source/part # for these bulbs?

A metal bracket goes in the headliner.
The lense snaps into that, not the lamp housing.
Make sure both lense tabs are present as they are easy to break.

I saw the metal brackets in the headliner, but the 1 cover I have still wouldn't go in...and yeah, tonight, I just broke the damn tab trying to snap it in.

I was already missing one cover. I think I have a source to buy new light assemblies w/ covers.

I was able to pull the metal "frame" out of the headliner that you're talking about. I guess maybe it was pushed too far back in. Still can't figure out why the covers wouldn't go in. Gotta get 2 new covers now at the least.

The frame was probably bent out of shape.
