I'm a pretty good MTX driver... or I could have said that at one time.
Recently, I pushed my SHO a little too far.
Scenario:
Racing down I-495 near Rt-50 at 85mph in 3rd gear, I went to drop the car in 4th and OOPS! caught second gear instead! Lost traction on the drive wheels due to the incredibly high RPM's (could guess it was approx 9500, but tach was pegged). Once I regained control of the car, I pulled it out of second gear and eased the car back into fourth. Everything seemed fine except my ego suffered a bit. Once I pulled off the highway I noticed a rattle at lower RPM's.
Now, here's what's happening...
In neutral, revving the engine it rattles at all RPM levels but horribly under 3k. The same rattle, but worse in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gear again mostly at lower RPM's. The rattle seems to disappear in fourth and fifth gear.
The SHO is a '92 STOCK except for K&N air filter and I removed the moronic Ford "air reducer" infront of the intake before the airbox (I swear I felt a 5 Hp gain wink
I know very little in this area but some of my more knowledgable friends seem to think that I bent the flywheel or broke a large piece of the clutch completely off. Something feels bent to me, but again, I don't know what?!?!?!?!?
Anyone have a clue what would most likely have happened to the SHO in the above scenario? or has anyone had a similar incident? (I wouldn't have admitted it either, but I gotta get it fixed ASAP)
Thanks in advance,
SHO-Phan
