My 94 ATX with 85k miles needs servicing. I'm getting hesitation at 2000 rpm, my check engine light comes on occasionally and sometimes, even after driving for an hour, the temp guage registers cold (and the heat doesn't work very well when that happens).

Besides plugs & wires, what else should I have done. All suggestions appreciated.

the car running cold all the time points to a thermostat. Make sure you get a genuine ford t-stat as the aftermarket ones are very cheaply made for the car. Since you're only 15k away from the 100k service on your car, I'd get the valve lash adjustment done also, which technially should have been done at 60k, and the timing belt. Also replace the plugs and wires with only motorcraft replacements, since aftermarket wires don't seem to last on the car, and aftermarket plugs stick the wire up above the top of the well, letting junk get down into there. There are a few aftermarket suppliers you can use, for instance, summit racing carries taylor spiro-pro wires for the SHO and I belive they are only 70 dollars, and they fit correctly, also Magnecore has a set of wires for the SHO, but I belive they are pricer than the motorcrafts.

Your timing belt is scheduled for replacement at 100,000 miles on the ATX. The 60,000 mile service should have included the spark plugs and valve gap adjustment.
