I actually know a guy who works with carbon fiber. So real carbon fiber parts not the faux stuff. He works on competition sailboats. He actually wants to make up by rear hatch for his car out of carbon fiber. Only problem is he's super busy because of that specialty.I’ve seen that on legit track cars. Honesty I wish….but only if it was all carbon and done by a professional lol. And very nice drawing
No just the turbos, he ceramic coated the hotside so that’s nice to have also. The wide body project has been slow going, basically I just haven’t worked on it. But I’ve been taking a hard look at air suspension. I mean…I’m stalling the fender flare install bc I want to see where it sits with the full weight of the car…..but if I do air bags I can just adjust it, if I do coilovers I could adjust it also….but I think bags are the way to go for many reasons. I damaged my chin spoiler and front bumper last year on sketchy road….to be able to adjust ride height instantaneously would be very practical, you can get a kit to have a preset ride height…so it could be set for regular driving and raised when the road is sketchy, slammed when it’s parked, watch it stand up to ride height when you remote start it, and I’ve been looking at drag cars with air bags and time attack cars with air….it’s definitely doable to run the car at the drag strip….I’d run it as low as possible on the strip. Plus it’ll look ******* cool! Many reasons! LolDid you get any other goodies from him!?!? And how’s the wide body coming along?

What is the reliability of those setups? I always wondered if they were just something else to worry about fixingMy son swears by Air for adjustability and comfort. His GTI has had it for years. I guess it's a matter of cost over comfort for me lol. Do a write up and cost for it all and pics for sure.
What I’ve found from doing some research is 99% of issues are user error. Maintenance is literally visually inspecting and remembering to drain your water trap. Can’t install and have anything rubbing on the bags or that will lead to a tear. Air Lift management will tell you if you have a leak and where in the system it is.What is the reliability of those setups? I always wondered if they were just something else to worry about fixing
I won’t be driving it without air in the bags, even on a lower setting. Airing out the bags is for parking only. Then you raise to your preset ride height…..so set a ride height for yourself, in my case that will be high enough off the ground my splitter should be about 5.5” off the ground. That’s one full inch higher than I’ve ever driven it before, since now my tires are larger. That way I don’t have any running issues turning and also have even less of a chance hitting scraping the front end. But even then I can raise it all the way up, higher than stock suspension to clear weird parking lot entrances and exits, thus ensuring I don’t damage my front end again. Parked it will always be aired out and slammed, not driven like that. The air suspension set up intrigues me. I worked on a 2021 Tahoe Z71 last week that the air suspension failed on, replaced the pump/module asm which emptied the storage tank. I work fleet and took it across the lot to take care of another issue before I programmed the module and with no air in the bags it bounced so bad it damn near gave me spinal compressions. I'm talking almost undriveable on rough surfaces at 10-15mph. I'd be curious how the system would drive slammed in low mode. We had a member a few years back, USMC something if I remember correctly that was talking about giving it a try, not sure if he followed through with it. I'll be watching your post, best of luck.
Some of it is luck I suppose. What happened to you would have happened to me, nothing you can do in those instances. I’ve had some close calls prior to mine breaking, where I nearly hit something in the road, either bc something was in it or narrowly avoiding an animal. This is a good point bc to some degree it’ll always be susceptible to damage.I know goofball, I have zero experience with non factory air systems. I was just making a statement wondering about how it would handle at the track in a low setting.
I killed my chin spoiler a few weeks back on road debris and had to glass it back and I'm on factory PP springs. I've often wondered how you guys that are lowered with the chin spoiler pulled it off. Chunk of wood emerged out from under a Challenger in front of me on the highway and .....thwack!
