Not sure if you have another thread on this...but what are your weight loss moves so far? I'm open to putting mine on a diet...but not at the expense of creature comforts. I want to lose weight to save the trans.
At this point both of our weight loss could be answered with yes.

What did you take out? Yes

Everything is out of the interior except the roof liner, dash, driver side seatbelt pillar cover, both pillars covers by the windshield are on. The carpets, glove box, top of center console, rear deck lid cover, all speakers in the doors and deck lid, the stereo amps have been removed from the trunk, all the weather stripping is gone. It really doesn’t take long either, maybe 3 hours including the passenger seat and rear seats still needing to be removed. And then the exhaust comes off for a run, that’s probably 50 pounds. The downpipes are stout connected to the turbos and the turbos are braced so the downpipes barely move just sitting there. Has to be a tiny bit of power from open downpipes.

But you know it’s not that bad driving it around. So what I would like to end up with is my exhaust back on, weather stripping back on, glove box and center console back on, and then tidy it up with some lightweight paneling on the doors, and something to close up the opening of the rear seat missing. I’ll put both front seats back in for inspection. I’m content with my engine and exhaust for music. I really want that 3 pod cluster to go where the dash speaker is.

Spare bedroom in the basement is my car parts storage lol! Image Image Image

What causes this car to be so heavy? Similar size Audi with awd typically weights 300-500 lbs less. Where is all the weight? Iron instead of aluminum?

I guess it's depending on what model you compare it too. Similar size to me would be an S6 which weighs 4400lbs which is about right.

Yeah...but....can aluminum, even hard anodized...handle being suspension? What cars have aluminum upper and lower A arms?

Yes, audi is beast. I had a few different ones and they are tough. Extremely durable drivetrain and suspension. But very expensive to maintain and keep. Nothing comparable if you get it apr stage 3 tuned.

Lets keep it in perspective though from a cost stand point. A 2016 s6 with 40k on the clock is still $41,000. Personally, I got my 2016 SHO for $17,500 with 60k miles. At that point I would have $23,000 to make it as fast as the Audi. And that isn’t including the APR stage 3 tune cost, or the supporting mods.

I digress, Audi is an amazing brand with quality craftsmanship and a **** of a racing pedigree, but it’s kind of like comparing Chevrolet and Ferrari. The playing field isn’t even.

I'd agree except I've never seen Chevy mentioned in the same year as ferrari by one person who was comparing vehicles on any level. I'm actually not even sure what to compare Chevy to...

Ford is frequently compared to many much higher brands and is famous for..... Drumroll please: Ford vs Ferrari!

Now isn't that ironic?

I agree that we get a pretty good bang for our buck on performance, by leaps and bounds more when you buy a used SHO and start modding. I paid 17,900 for my 2010 with 52k in 2015. Crazy I would prefer a 2013+ but I couldn’t touch one at the time for less than 28k or so. And that would be a used 2013 in 2015.

I agree with this...to a point. We are struggling and being Awefully creative to get to 600hp....while 44k Audi gets there with a tune and downpipes.

I'd still rather drive a ford/Chevy/BMW/Porsche.

I just.,.don't.,.like Audis. They're like the red tie business suit of cars. They lack that crazy wild flair that imparts character. Even their RS models blend in rather completely with the pedestrian models of the same type. Subtlety has its place...but there is such a thing as TOO subtle, imo.

Take a Shelby mustang. No mistaking that for an ordinary GT. Even a standard Cobra...not being mistaken for a standard GT.

So why are most SHO guys making their rides look like audi?
Hint: the SHO is an affordable version.

I love Audis. I’ve had 4. Never owned one long enough to experience anything really bad with the cars. My favorite one was a 2000 Audi A6 4.2 V8. I put some cool front spoilers on it, 20x8.5 wheels on H&R coilovers, custom dual exhaust, I spent 1,000 on an engine chip and transmission chip from GIAC. Two 12” subs in the back with an RS6 spoiler. It sounded badass, drove smooth as ****, stereo sounded great, it felt quick at that time. My SHO would destroy it.....but back then I just wanted wheels, no wheel gap, exhaust and stereo and I was happy. 4FC8EB02 FDAB 4EBB B164 43B19A6E3F75
