Front main has been leaking for a while, never had the time or weather decent enough to tackle it- until now. Figured I'd change the waterpump while I was in there because it had a little bit of freeplay. Turns out it was leaking pretty bad. I found a fair bit of metal shavings in my coolant when I went to drain the catch pan. I examined the waterpump and housing but there appears to be no damage or grinding.. is it possible that could be coming from the waterpump bearings or what? The waterpump did have a tiny bit of free-play, but wasn't really making any noise.

I am starting to question of I should replace my CPS- it aint broken but its been abused (pictures). Also my timing belt has a tiny chunk missing... its going to be a PITA trying to get a belt or CPS down here... plus its my DD. Should I go out of my way to do the other stuff, or is it probably fine? timing belt and idler were replaced around 40,000km ago same with the waterpump.

Rent a car, order the parts, change them, do it right first time look around for other broken or soon to fail stuff.

Just my 0.02 if you got to work on it, work on it and be done with it!
