Is There Anybody Local In Milwaukee Or The Surrounding Area That Is "qualified" And Willing To Do A 60k For Cash. You Must Have Experience And A Place To Do It. Miltown Of Shoforum Can Be Used As A Reference To Attest Cash Money Paud For Good Work. I Would Like To Do This After Christmas. Contact Mike At 414-763-2896

Thanks Guys And Gals.

I've done a '92 MTX and plan to do my '95 MTX over the week just after Christmas. I might be interested. Am I qualified enough or are you looking for a certified mechanic? What items are you looking to do? It's funny. I just came on here to start gathering the stuff I need for my 60k. Let me know.

I'm in Menomonee Falls.

Hi, The valves are LOUD, and my auto tensioner pulley needs replacing, as well as the power steering pump. You do not have to be a certified mechanic, but I would expect you to have the proper tools for valve lash adjustment, etc. My biggest worry is I do not have time to bring a car back to you for poor work done. If you qualify let me know a ball park range for the work i listed, I will not hold you to any number. Mike

Well, I don't think the valve lash, or the auto tensioner pulley replacement would be an issue. I have never done a power steering pump, but I do have the repair manual for the SHO at home. Let me take a look.

I do have garage space, air tools, and the valve shim tools.

Did you call around to see how much a valve lash adjustment would run? I seem to remember a quote for $600-$700 LABOR, and the shims were free :) What a deal! Not to mention, I had to explain to them why I wanted to have this done. The Ford dealer had no clue about the shims in the SHO. Anyway.

I'm guessing $200 for the valve lash & pulley if you provide the parts (we can split the shim kit cost). As I said, I can check on power steering pump replacement. If it is straight forward, $25-$50.

If YOU want to do the work simultaneously to me with my SHO, then just bring some Mountain Dew.

Well, it took me 2 weeks to get everything done, and acquire parts along the way, but it's back running.

Let's see, part list:
O2s, Valve cover gasket, plug seals, crank seal, timing belt, throttle body gasket (which I broke), thermostat, one broken valve cover bolt, plugs, plug wires, oil + filter.

Key points:
Cincy's SHO 60k documentation helped with reinstalling crankshaft pulley. Heat it up! Worked great. Also, they showed a way to torque the bolt by putting the car in gear, and using a lug wrench to stop axle rotation. Man, 150ft-lbs is hard to get too!

Mark's 60k video helped with everything else.

All my valves were in spec. Why am I disappointed? Oh wait, I RENTED THE KIT. Well, there's $70 wasted. I'm sure they all would've been messed up if I didn't rent the kit...

You will HATE everything attached at the back of the engine. I cursed the SHO every intake support nut, etc connected to the back. Ok, I love the car again now that it's back together, and running :)

Oh, rotate the engine with a wrench ones you put the crankshaft position sensor back in. Mine was rubbing which I didn't realize until I buttoned almost everything back up. I couldn't gap it right with the flat metal feeler gauge I had, so I just put whatever size in there that wouldn't rub when I rotated the engine. Yeah, that may come back to haunt me. I did notice there was one slight higher spot on the cam gear, so I gapped off of that spot.

I didn't hear from you, so either you're doing it yourself, or you found someone else to help. Either way, good luck, and maintenance is good.
