I've had my car for ~3k miles, and don't know when the last 60k was done. PLEASE someone, list what's included in a full 60k. I need to know what's part of the upper, and what's part of the lower. I know it's a dumb question, I'm good with cars, but I don't know the specifics of an SHO's livelyhood. I appreciate any input. Another think is, how the **** do I flush the power steering fluid, mine is mixed like oil and vinegar. It's all soupy and black, like black egg drop soup... Literally.

There is a great link with color pics that shows you what to replace and how to do it. Its great info. Be carefull though, before you go shooting off questions like that, people will get pretty upset for asking questions that get asked ever day. But I'm in the same boat you are, I need an upper and lower 60k service and it seems like so much to do and I've already got the intake and valve cover area done, I need to do the shims to finish the upper, then on to the lower..... frown

I believe I initially coined the terms for the Upper and Front end 60K services and I will say that there is no preventative maintenance portion of the "60K" called the Lower 60K. The connecting rod bearings and oil pan seal set are the only items I can recall that are normally serviced on the lower end of the engine, but neither of those is a regular maintenance activity. They are dealt with if and when they become necessary.

Here is a link to a topic that discussed this same subject. At this link I provided a list of the most commonly addressed parts and services and the mileage intervals and ages at which they should be considered. Obviously, if known, the service history of a particular car will determine the need and priority of the items on the list for that car.

After checking out the links that have been provided, you could learn more details on the particular part or service by using the helpful "search" feature available at the upper right of most of the Forum's pages. Read up and ask away. We can help.

The only dumb question is the one not asked.

Ferendon,

All the 60k info is on my site. As for the power steering flush, I'll be doing a detailed guide soon, but for now the easiest thing to do it use a vacuum pump to suck all the fluid out of your resevior, then fill it up with new ATF fluid. Repeat every few days and before too long... clean power steering!

Scott,

I often referred to the Front 60k incorrectly as the lower 60k, being the opposite of the "Upper" 60k. Yesterday I went about changing all of those references on my site to "Front", so hopefully that will help dispel confusion... rofl

I was just wondering... Is it indeed necessary to quote so much since the button is back? :D
