4th Clutch Cable in 2-1/2 years?

About 1 year after buying my SHO, a clutch cable broke on it. Assuming it was the original cable, I figured nothing of it and replaced it and I was on my merry way.

Less than a year after this (this summer) the clutch was depressed, and as I pushed it down, I heard an almost "crunch" sound, and noticed a bit of wiggle in the pedal. The Cable snapped and was replaced again.

Now, not 6 months from replacing the last one, and less than 6k miles on it this cable "crunched" on me again today... it has yet to snap but is frayed on the pedal end again, and will not be driven until the cable is replaced

Every time the cable was replaced I made sure to check for binding and rubbing... What else can be causing this, I don't drive like an ogre, I am actually quite nice to the clutch and smoothly let it in and out. Also, every time it snaps it goes in the same way, to make me believe it is not a binding problem, because the pedal is on its travel down and is not hanging up or do i feel any sort of resistance

Could there be another problem?... Or do I just have two faulty clutch cables in less than a year?

There must be another problem. How much effort is needed to depress the clutch? Is it an aftermarket clutch?

I could easily use just my barefooted big toe to depress the pedal on mine. If you can't...then there must be something causing too much resistance. Either binding, or a funky pressure plate.

Two things come to mind.
1. The TOB is hanging up on the quill sleeve
2. The TOB shift fork bushings are shot

Clutch cable... Its a 95, no cable shifter here, I'm rolling rods, son.

That's exactly what I am thinking, its a stock clutch, but there has to be some sort of rubbing or something... its gonna be difficult finding this though (just take a look at the under dash cable routing)... It keeps breaking in the same spot, which leads me to believe that it is not binding, but there is a rubbing issue that I don't see when i "test fire" it. If it was a resistance issue, the cable could break anywhere... not the same spot three times... right?

I should get under there before i replace it and try to noodle my hands in to check where exactly it is fraying and what is in that neghborhood that could rub on it...
