I know this has been covered somewhere but what does the 3rd cat removal do to emissions test passing? And what about the extended warranty? Will the **** shops that sell high performance stuff generally do this?

If they physcally inspect the exaust and know it had a 3rd cat. They would probally make you replace it then. If it just an emmission test then the SHO will pass. Why Ford did added is beyond, me other than to bring it in more compliance with CAFE. The odds in the shop knowing that it require one is slim since all the V6 dont them.

The warranty thing........ I say read the info on it first to find out. You can modify your car (ie Muffflers). If you take it in and the can prove t hat the muffler blew you engine you out of luck....... catch what I saying. It's on them to prove without an shadow of a doubt that that mod cause the malfuntion.

As for the cat removal ... is against well you know :) The option is yours they can be replace after 80k though :)

Maybe someone else can add their 2 cents. :D

According to the shop that did the removal for us, it's a $5k fine for the owner, $5k fine for the tech that did it, and $10k for the shop. That's Assachusetts for ya though.

one thing is that is is not technically a cat. it has no 02 sensors and is listed by Ford as a Muffler.

If is listed by Ford as a muffler and will pass emissions....it is gone. And replaced by a nice straight pipe. I will pursue this with the guys who installed my Magnaflows. They are a band of crazy exhaust sniffing outlaws and the shop is Sanford and Son stuff. Course they do great work. Will keep you guys posted.
