3 Bar Map Sensor Problems

Hey guys,

Today I received my 3 bar map sensor from rock auto and for some reason after I switched it from the factory 2 bar and try to start the car, the car makes a rather loud "thump" and a wrench icon pops up on the dash telling me to check the owners manual as well as the "service advance track" indicator, also the car acts as if it wants to shut off however if I switch it back to the 2 bar sensor everything runs fine. Also when I made the swap 4 DTC's came up P0106 (which is map sensor related), U0401, C0062, and U0401.

I also noticed that the motorcraft bag the 3 bar came in has serial # CX-2231-AA5Z-9F479-B but the actual sensor has AA5A-9F479-AB written on it which I don't know if that makes a difference or not.

If any of you have had this issue any info would be appreciated!

I already had the tune loaded on the vehicle prior to swapping out for the 3 bar but had the car off during the swap.

In that case I guess your saying I have to re-tune for the 3 bar?

I'm saying you should load the tune with the 3 bar already installed.

The tune has to be set up for a 3bar. You can't just add one and think it's going to work.

Email who ever you use for the tune, and tell them you upgraded to a 3bar map. And to adjust accordingly.

Yea I'm tuned with Livernois so I already have their V10 tune which is compatible.

Its just the tune for the 2 bar I'm going to have to request a tune from them like you said, I just picked it up Thursday and was under the impression that the 93perv10 tune was already compatible with the 3 bar.

It is, with the 3 bar sensor installed. LMS won't typically let you screw this up like you have. A 2 bar tune (or stock) should be loaded with the 2 bar MAP installed. Same thing with the 3 bar tune.

Maybe I'm missing something here but I just returned the car to stock with the factory 2 bar installed, then installed the 3 bar with the car off, retuned it with the LMS 93 PERv10 TS tune (thinking it's compatible with the 3 bar) and I still had the same issue so this is why I was starting to think that tune wasn't compatible with the 3 bar. Am I wrong?

The tune you have right now. The one that you've been running is set up for a 2bar. The 3bar reads different and needs to be adjusted in the tune. Seriously. What part of this is confusing to you?

When you requested the tune did you specify that you wanted the 93 tune for a 3-bar map sensor?

No, when I picked it up at LMS, I thought I heard him say the tune I had worked with the TS AND 3 bar but I got it corrected.

Well as long as you got it straight, that is all that matters.

For the next person reading though, you have to specify ALL of your mods, otherwise they will assume anything not mentioned is stock.
