anybody else run across this problem.I've had a set of heads rebuilt,3 angle valve job and the stems cut to match.after setting my valve lash and checking it twice and a third time.My r/s head cams turn really firm, like maybe 80lbs of force.I've pulled the cams and check the run out to make sure there not bent. And I do have the lash set on the tight side, but the l/s head turns very easy. There's about a 25-30lb difference in force needed to rotate the r/s cams. The chain tensioner are brand new.If this is out of the ballpark with everybody,I'll just swap another cam in,but I'm trying to find out if it is.And no I didn't turn the cams without the chain on to see which cam is tight, but I will if thats what needed.thanks

Are both cams lubricated? Is there a chance some grit got in between a cam and cam cap. And a stupid question, but do you have spark plugs in one head but not the other?

Did you have the heads milled ? milling ohc heads can cause problems if the were warped, the head mating surface will now be flat but the cam bores are still warped

Did you install the springs or the shop?? check to make sure all the springs are seated properly and not binding. Also check that there is nothing stuck in between coils . I have had heads come back with vibrator beads stuck in the coils. Are the valves lubricated??

Never trust any machine work, always make sure the valves move freely in the guides and do a leak down test with some solvent poured into the ports to make sure they are sealing.

Ok,just got back from picking up the new springs I order to start rebuilding the ATX timing tensioner, took me a year to get the correct seals and springs.Anyhow the heads are sitting on my bench. They were lightly surfaced to clean them up,and were not warped.I will take them apart and inspect them as I had a machine shop do everything except install and set the cams and shims.I'm going to check the run out on the exhaust cam on the firewall side of the engine, because when I loosen the cam caps the problem goes away.I've got them mocked up on the engine sitting on the stand to do the valve lash. Thanks everybody for chiming in on this. Everything has Assembly **** on it as its going together. :thank you:

I'm the one who bought the 93 ATX with the blown head gasket, which is what I'm rebuilding now because the engine that was in the car is SHOT.Block is heavily scored and the heads are warped with over 70ths gap across the heads. These are NOT the ones going back on.This was a build for my 95 thats going into this one.Too nice of a car to waste.
