You gotta call around and ask your local machinists. Could be as cheap as a couple hundred, or over a grand, depends on who, what's included beyond the boring, etc., etc., etc.

Just the boring, and maybe some stage II cams.

I have just finished this process, in fact I am getting ready to start my 0-mile 3.2 this evening. You can't do just boring. You will want the block tanked, the crank polished, new rings, new bearings, and new freeze plugs, that will be a basic rebuild. As Chris said above a lot of that depends on the machine shop.

Also, with heads, are you going to have any valve work done? That can vary greatly on the amount of work and so forth. I would say for a good quality rebuild you'll be looking close to 1k, varing a few hundred.

Well I had thought about having the heads ported and polished, but from what I've read on here its not worth it...3 angle valve job maybe ?

As far as the block tanked, rings, bearings, FPs are all part of the norm for the guy I'm going to get to do the rebuild. Hes good. Hes to the point and he doesnt cut corners. You tell him what you want and he takes it all to his barn and builds it...Right the first time.

I am going to do some work on an extra intake to see what happens.

My cams will probably be the most expense.

I would just have the heads gasket mtached and cleaned up. You will not see much from a porting or 3 angle valve job.

It is also a good idea to get it spin balanced and have the rods checked along with everything said above. Possibly oversized pistons and rings come in to play, depending on how far you go. The parts really are the main cost as they are hard to find and really expensive. I am about to start my own build up, right now i am gathering parts and information. As far as the cams go, they will need to be degreed right with the heads on the motor, which is very time consuming and can be an expensive process if you have someone else do it. All this including the lash caps, matching springs, and anything else that you may want to get done to the heads while they are apart, such as a rebuild and cleaning which is probably a good idea depending on their condition.
