okay so I have read just about every post that deals with 235/45/17 on 17x7 wheels......I know that 225/50/17 are the best wheel, but I am really leaning towards the 235....is there anyone around here that has a set of svt 17x7 with 235/45's on it that would share your thoughts? please give me your feedback please.....I am currently running on 225/45/17 that came on the wheels, but it is time for some new rubber! thanks

are you sure the width of them is 7inches?

if so that might be a little wide, I run 235's on 7.5" wheels and that is the absolute minimum width I'd run 235's on...........

when you put too wide of a tire on a small width wheel, the middle of the tire balloons up and wears much faster then the rest of the tire, along with other performance robbing side effects.......

I've only run 235/45's on my SVT's.
Been through a set of Sumitomo HRTz II's street and track, and currently pounding on the Eagle F1's From Neno's car. IIRC it matches the dia. of a slicer with stock tire size.
They work pretty good for me on the (bad) streets of chicago in the summer, and a couple track days like Big Jims in car video from the convention shows I'm not nice to them.
I guess I'm sayin if the center is wearing more I wouldn't notice since I use the sidewalls a bit to scrub off speed.
I'm to tired to look but didn't this come up in your SVT wheel mounting post?

Everybody and their mothers on this forum use 235/45/17s on 7" wheels, but I think 225/50/17s are a better fit and also look better.

Unless it's in snow! Kirk used to run 245's on his SVT's when he owned his white Gen 3. I run 235/45's on both sets of my SVT's with no problems.

Randy, before you buy tires make sure you read the specs on the tire. A good site like Tire rack will give you the "width" spec.

Not all tire makers are the same, a BFG (which I think SUCK) will fit but really close while a Kumho will fit perfect in a 245/45/17. a 225/50/70 IMO is a rubber band and makes the wheel gap on some cars look real big.

My SVT's were real ones, and IIRC the offset was a few MM different than the knock offs.

actually a 225-50-17 is more then half an inch taller then a 235-45-17 and will fill your wheel well in more

also wider is not ALWAYS better, especially when you make a constant the same width wheel
