This noise started when backing into my driveway with wheel turned to the right. Noise continues going forward, but then seems to go away. Already replaced front CV shaft and the noise continues. Anyone have any ideas?

Not exactly sure what the noise itself is, but the tire moving that way, jerky, is normal when one tire is off the ground, and you leave the traction / stability control engaged.Looked for tire rubbing on the struts while it was on the ground. Then jacked the front end up, put it in reverse, then drive and this is what I observed. If you listen carefully you can hear the squealing. Or is this normal if all 4 wheels are not off the ground?
Thoughts?
Both front wheels were off the ground, rear wheels were chocked and parking brake set. Traction control was off. Guess I should have got the rear wheels off ground as well but was running out of daylight. Not exactly sure what the noise itself is, but the tire moving that way, jerky, is normal when one tire is off the ground, and you leave the traction / stability control engaged.
The car senses one of the wheels moving, when the others aren't, and assumes the car lost grip.
Turn traction control off if you want it to spin more evenly.
But, you also need to remember that it's an AWD car, so having just a single wheel off the ground and hitting the gas is a bad idea. The other three tires will get power, and the car will jump forward, taking the jack with it, or toppling the jack stand, causing more issues than the weird noise.

Ford is replacing the PTU. Wish I would have known to have it serviced. Especially since I didn’t know the history of the first 50,000. Should I be replacing the gear oil every oil change? Is there anything that should be done with the rear transfer case?FYI car is a Ford now waiting for a $200 diagnosis . Will update thread when I hear back.
Ouch. If the PTU is already shot, I would change everything including the coolant. Your baby might have been abused.Ford is replacing the PTU. Wish I would have known to have it serviced. Brake/ Slash guard?Noise will start when backing up and feels like the hub is trying to engage. Then going forward it will squeel/grind for a while and clear up until you back up again. I replaced the CV joint because I thought the rubbing noise could have been inside one of the boots. I will have to inspect the strut closer for rubbing. You can drive the car without any incident as long as you don't back up. I suppose this is not going to be a wheel bearing but probably in the PTU or transmission?
