Hello SHO Members,

I am a new 2013 SHO owner and so far I am in love with the vehicle. A couple weeks ago I noticed sometimes it would shift a little rough going out of 1st and second. Yesterday it clunked pretty bad when doing this. The odd thing is that sometimes the car will shift smoother at higher speeds, this usually only happens at slower speeds but at higher speeds not so often. Anyone know why it might be doing this? I bought this car used but the rest is flawless.

Thank you for all your time!

You're still under warranty (at least time wise) so take it in before it expires. It could be that just a reflash will fix it. I got a '10 and am impressed with how it upshifts. I've only used the paddle shifter once when I first got it. I guess it would be good if I did an open track event with it. Can't imagine doing that with a 4300+ lb. car though. Downshifting is another story, it sucks. There's a bit of a lag before you can get back on it, otherwise it clunks. I've read that they're coming out with a 9-speed in '16. How many can they squeeze in there! It's like the razors... Gillette has a 5-blade razor! This 6-speed I figured had two overdrives, but 5th is 1:1.

Yeah, it is out of warranty for the mileage but I do have an extended warranty on parts like that. I will take it in for sure but just wanted to see if it was common for that car. Thank you so much for your feedback! I feel as though my downshifts fine but can upshift rough. 9 speed?! that's crazy, haha.

You're quite welcome. So you say you have no concern on the way it downshifts? To be more descriptive on what I'm saying, when you lift and it downshifts, you can't get back on it immediately, you have to wait a moment until the gear engages, or else it will clunk when it actually does engage.

I will give it a go and let you know what I come up with. I haven't had it very long so maybe I just haven't experienced that too much yet.

How do you like the Platinum White? My '10 is Tuxedo Black. I wanted to get the Platinum White back then, but the interior only came in black. The silica flake stuff in the Tuxedo Black was cool for about 2 weeks for me. I ended up ordering Platinum White this time by process of elimination. I cringe at the thought of waxing it. White sucks to wax! I do like white, don't get me wrong. I could go on and on about the available colors, but that would be whining even more than I already have!

So far I really enjoy the color. If mine didn't have the premium black rims with it I wouldn't like it as much, those really make it stand out. It has been pretty rainy here in Michigan since I got it and I haven't had it real clean for very long at a time but it is easy to keep clean (white always seems to be). I also like the black ones but I see fewer white ones around then I expected. Seems like I see a lot of red and black ones.

I would have gotten Ruby Red, but half of the free world gets that color! I would have gotten Dark Side which is a really brilliant dark green, but Ford, in their infinite wisdom, discontinued it. But they still listed it in the available colors in order to tease you.

Had the same problems with the rough shifting....tune or reflash will fix it! I put a 91 tune on now it peels out shifting into second only rough when I want it to be. :) R
