Is Ford going to get away from this black body trim along the bottom? I don't quite understand the point of all of it besides to protect against rocks. At least on the SHO they should offer matching side skirts and rear diffusor as an option or put it in with the PP. They offer it with the Focus on the sport packages.

I remember Earl Lucas, who was chief of design of the 2010 Taurus, saying it was done to "lighten" the appearance of the car because it is such a large vehicle. He said with the lower cladding painted, it made the car look much larger and fatter. So this way, the car appears smaller and more athletic than it really is.

We bought my wife a Traverse last year over a Rendezvous for this very reason. The Buick and Traverse are exactly the same, other than than the former having painted lower cladding. It made the car look too bubbly, IMO. The Traverse was also a little cheaper which I definitely did not object too!
