Being a lucky fellow that I am to work for Ford in the design studio in Dearborn Ive seen the entire car myself and was very impressed with it. I love the new look of the front end and some minor tweaks to the rear. I am also not positive about any power upgrades, but you can count on Ford staying right up with the competition.

What are the tweaks on the rear?

My guess is the new grill will be the same as the police interceptor. I cant see them designing two separate grills for 2012. Maybe Taurus Builder can confirm this. I will probably hold off and order the oem grills from the factory. I bet they will be priced similar or cheaper than aftermarket.

1st of all Greg...... this smilie I think was created specifically for moments such as this thread..... :ttiwwp:

Now moving along, that's great to hear that the powers that be over at FORD are clearly listening to current owners and are actively considering upgrading the brakes, as well as changing the upper & lower grilles, in essence, making them trim specific to the SHO only.

That's Fk'n awesome man. :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

I can't for the love of God understand why, that the SHO wasn't designed from the onset with more distinct styling cues that clearly tell others who view it that hey "this is a SHO".

Same as when all of us wondered why the "Police" (really the "Taxi") grill wasn't standard on the original '89.......

Thanks for the updates, but are these updates also for the regular Taurus? Will they get the TiVCT engine?

Haven't noticed anything really. I have seen folding mirrors on the 12s but I'm not sure if those were there before and I just didn't notice or it's something new.

My Touch is really cool. I'm dying to see what the new dash looks like. Problem is, you need to take a class to learn My Touch! As with everything though, once you know it...

We have it in our new EDGE, it's really cool but at the same time, it's really really slow. It's as if it doesn't have the processor power to run all the stuff it does. We find a lot of times we'll touch the screen and just wait then 15 seconds later the screen changes. Or we'll touch something 5x to get it to register. The system in the SHO currently responds so much faster. While it may not have all the functions of My Touch (a lot of car functions like lighting, seats, etc are in the My Touch system) it's still much faster and easier to use. They need a few model years to work it thru I'm sure it will get better.

Depending on the build date of your Edge there have been 2 major updates the dealer can perform. The latest update was just released last week. The updates really improve the system performance.
I think the MyTouch system will keep getting better as Ford fixes the known issues pretty fast via software updates.
