I've driven CVT in the rental cars during business trips. Don't like them. Guess I'm old fashioned and like to feel the gears/shifts. Prefer a manual, but that's a dying breed and another story.
My 2011 didn't seem to shift harshly to me, however I noticed the 2-3 change seemed to engage and then drop a few hundred rpm it seemed. Not really slipping, just odd. I mentioned the TSB on the transmission to my dealer, noting that the TSB said if it was done wrong there could be 2-3 "flair". Dealer said the TSB wasn't done to my car previously, but the checked it out (supposedly) and the pressures were not 'right'. Thus, they performed the TSB. They had the parts and took about 4 hours. Too early to tell yet, but seems better.
I've also read that since our throttle is drive-by-wire that contributes a little to the every so slight delay in response. Not sure what all the tunes do, but guess some of that is manipulated too with the tune.
As a side note, leaving the dealer, I heard a pop and thought 'oh ****...'. Heard the turbo wheezing and waaay down on power. Brought back to the dealer right away and was simply a turbo pipe popped off. Not sure if they had to remove any of that to do the TSB, but I guess they didn't secure it well enough.
Maybe have your dealer see if the TSB applies to your car and test your tranny.
