2010 SHO PP:
Custom box built from sundown audio specs. Had to do some modification to the box because of the size of the box needed to push the subwoofers properly. Did not alter air space much by taking corners off. Used 3/4" MDF and reinforced every seam with silicone. After fully assembled and sealed I began the fiberglass of the box. I took fiber glass cloth and painted over all seams of the box. Followed by 2 coats of bondo to the entire box. Sprayed entire box in primer then placed carpeting. Ran Sundown Audio X12's with a SCV-3000D amplifier. All wiring was 1/0 Rockford Fosgate. Did the Big 4 underneath the hood to allow the alternator and battery to breath better followed by an extra Kinetik 3800W Battery. All grounds sanded to frame and self tapped. In order to add the bass and keep ALL factory radio and steering wheels controls in place I installed the new Rockford Fosgate DSR-1 which allows for easy setup and control and all sound equipment including all channels inside the vehicle. Upgraded the factory amplifier with Alpine PDX-F4 amplifier which was 100 x4 RMS at 4 ohms. All connectors and hardware for this build was strictly copper and brass. 1/0 lugs had a hole too big for any bolts on the vehicle so I took copper bushings and turned them down on my lathe. Used a press to ensure tight fit into lug then filled and polished to a clean finish. Battery in rear was 96lbs alone so I created a homemade battery mount to secure it to the vehicle to prevent any type of movement. Drilled and mounted the battery mount with 6x screws to the bottom of the spare tire compartment. Made sure all bolts leading to the outside of the vehicle had been completely sealed with silicone to prevent any rust appearing. By firing the subs forward into the cabin it was UNREAL I had barely ANY rattles or vibrations of the vehicle at all! My last vehicle only had 1 JL W7 facing back into the trunk and I had to spend hundreds of dollars and hours dynamatting and soundproofing it. Many people have pros and cons to forward or rear facing subwoofers. This was the option I decided to go with and with it turned up its a little hard breathing or think clearly. Any suggestions or improvements would honored. Enjoy!
