Been waiting for my SHO.

Was supposed to arrive 2 weeks ago.
Dealer said he called rep and 1500 SHO's were being held yet mine is not one of them and for 2 weeks it supposedly is being shown shipped on the truck.

Frustrating trying to plan for a whenever date

Anyone hear of any TSB's or production hold ups?

I would not be surprised if the dealer SOLD your car to an impatient customer and backordered yours.

I would hate to think a dealer would do something as dastardly as that, but it did happen to me. I ordered a 2000 Explorer (when I lived in Rochester) and the GM liked it and took it for himself. My dealer here I've been buying from for over 20 years and they're the greatest! When I picked up my SHO, the GM gave me a stainless steel SHO drink bottle and a diecast.

West Herr will always take care of you ;)

However don't drink out of that SHO bottle. I have the same one and it is aluminum without any coating on the inside and I could taste the aluminum when I used it and the water made me cough. I now sits on my shelf as a display piece.

I haven't heard anything about a stop shipment on the SHO though.

Ford Taurus sales totaled 7,001 in March, up 86 percent. Apparently they're not having much trouble moving the New Taurus! I wonder how many were SHO's?

There was an old thread on this forum that gave the percentage breakdown of the Taurus line sales (projected), and it was amazingly accurate at that point in time.

it happens,

when i ordered my 2008 shelby, i waited and waited, the day came and went, it was held up like 3 weeks,

but try having an office by the window where you see every carrier pulling on the lot, 1-3 a day, looking for your car, only for it not to be there

luckily, once it was at the ramp, i was able to get ahold of the dock, and they loaded it with a truck full of mazdas! :)

I know my dealer is good and he is telling me the truth....but I wondered if anyone knew why they are holding 1500 SHO's?

Mine is not affected but it might be on the same car hauler as those that are.
Dealer rep did not say what they are being held for.

And howdy Ohio dude

There was a hold on some of the others at the end of last year too. There was a quality issue supposedly back then and that's why they were on hold.

I would be very interested to hear what the issue is. The SHO I ordered shows what looks like a scheduled production start date of tomorrow (04/05) per the printout I obtained from my dealer that shows the car already has a VIN assigned. It still does not show an ETA date on it though. I've also been curious if anyone has heard anything about changes or updates to the 2011 SHO?

On another note, I saw the Motortrend first impression write up on the new 5.0 Mustang GT and I have to say I was very impressed. This hits a very sentimental nerve with me as well as MY actual "first car" (not what I learned on) was a red '91 LX 5.0 automatic hatchback Mustang bought new 20 years ago. The Mustang would make a little less sense at this point in my life but dang if it doesn't still call to me. I also made the mistake of going by a Ford dealer on Friday to sit in and check out the newer Mustang's interior accomodations and features. This could turn out to be a harder decision that I had first thought.

I'm still moving forward with my thoughts on buying the SHO for now, but darn if I don't have the urge to have my dealer order me a Grabber Blue GT with the automatic 6 speed and all the trimmings, just incase I change my mind. LOL I wonder when they would start delivering the 2011 Mustangs? ;)

One thing I did notice when I was at the Ford dealer on Friday was I paid a bit more attention to the body panel gaps on the several Mustangs I looked at vs the one red earlier production SHO they had on the lot and I must say that while the 6 or 7 Mustangs I looked at seemed to all have perfectly concentric body panel gaps visually (hood, fenders, doors, quarters, trunklid, etc.) the SHO had a couple of places, most notably hood/fender and trunklid quarter gaps that were a little off, meaning visually detectable not measured with anything, when looking closely for it. I was a little surprised by this given the cost of the car, but I did notice that the cars are made at different plants (Rock Island, MI for the Mustang I believe and Chicago for the SHO) although that shouldn't matter. I know this is only one example, but just one more thing to check on some other SHOs at other dealers and on mine when it does come in.

I once had a car that I ordered that was damaged in transit when the car carrier it was on was involved in an accident. The manufacturer was very good about advising me though although it did take an additional 3 weeks or so to get my car.

Still would like to hear more from anyone that has any info on the details of SHO hold and if it is affecting cars that are currently being built or only cars waiting to be shipped that were made in the prior month or two.

Well I got the facts.

1500 cars will held and called back (any in transit) for a "Quality issue"
Good news my car was not one of them but was on a truck that had some.

So it went back for 2 weeks to the factory.

Today it came in
However the low % finance/rebate ended yesterday
Now 3 weeks late and Ford wants 85.00 more per month.

I'm a Frustrated customer......waiting to hear what Ford dealer rep is going to do about this.

About ready to switch to another car company maybe Ford does care about my business. (over 100 Ford cars in 48 months)

My SHO is supposed to built next week, is this quality issue holding up cars that have not been built yet? TOMS GT, that sucks about having to pay more per month, not your fault the car was late, sounds like something GM would try and pull.....Ford better be careful on how they treat their customers, new and old!

Well at least your car finally came in. Hey, just a heads up but they started a new promotion yesterday the "Swap you ride" rebate program which gives you $1000 rebat AND 0% APR financing for three years and low APR for longer terms good until 6/1/10.
