Biggest reason I am looking for differences is the newer models suggest 0w30 in LOW temperatures (headed to northern Michigan a few times this winter). I am looking at using 0w30 for the next couple oil changes. Should be back to 5w30 by ~March. Any reason I should not follow the recommended oil for a 2018 in my 2015?

I am for sure not looking to go Xw20. The 2015 manual calls for 5w30. However, in 2018 and beyond, the same vehicles (across the Ford line) that recommended 5w-30 year round began recommending 0w-30 in COLD weather. The manual shows 5w-30 for -20 - 100+ and 0w-30 for below -20 - 100+ (basically all temperatures). Going by that, 0w-30 is more universal. I was mainly trying to figure out if there was a change in design or they had finally completed testing and determined 0w-30 was acceptable. I could not find a TSB about backward compatibility.

Shoblock stated after all their testing till they discontinued the engine. 5w30 year round no exception. With the help i had from him installing a 2010 Ford Performance engine in a 2015. I trust his teams R&D.

I ran 0w40 with no issues for 5k miles, blackstone labs checked it out for me and it was fine
