i've got 200 bucks to spend on a tuneup. I know I need wires and plugs, what else should I get to get started on my 60k. It will die at stpo lights and has a miss under load, which I 'm assuming is wires and plugs. He has put new plug well seals in already. I'm not sure about the rest. I was thinking water pump, wires plugs...maybe timing belt and tensioner.

I would also check to see if you need valve cover gaskets since you'll be doing the plugs and wires

Back in Michigan ... again.
If plug seals were recently done and the plug wells are dry then I wouldn't even worry about any of the gaskets... don't even crack the cam covers open.

I'd do the plugs/wires, give the intake/throttle body/IAB valve a good cleaning while the intake is off (making sure all the IAB passages are clean) and then see how you stand as doing the timing belt/water pump is more involved and frankly, if your water pump isn't leaking or making noise there's no need to change it. People list it as a part of the 60k because it's right there when you're changing a timing belt, but it's not necessary by any means. Are you getting a CE light? Have you pulled any codes?

And moved to the maintenance forums :thumb:

Don't spend too much money without first making sure the MAF sensor is poperly cleaned. Just a little tiny bit (harldly visible to the ***** eye) of slime on the sensors' elements will cause all of your symptoms.

As for dieing at stop lights...check and double check for vacuum leaks. It would have to be a pretty big vacuum leak to make it stall, but check anyway.

Pull codes that will be the biggest help. Dying at stop lights might mean a bad or dirty IAB, might want to clean it.

ive never had luck cleaning IAB i always end up changing it ..

60k stuff is best to do a search on it but the things i really recommend..
ROD BEARINGS!!! i cant stress them enough and do them in time and not like some who olny do them when they get the light of death or knock then x miles later wonder why the engine popped.
crank and cam sensors are wearable items and need addressed asap.

i recommend also the coolant sensors so you know what the car is running at..
Note: a new temp sensor makes the gauge run a little higher then the old (or probley more correct)
new t stat is always smart. water pump.
and use a good filter and good oil please dont skimp these engines already dont like factory rod bearings lets not make life harder... as for those things i think are key.
everything else is smart to do also but if you can olny afford that much them do what i listed and do the rest later..

i spend over 800 on my 60k so far and will be more here soon. since i still need o2s and a few things here and there
