I have a 90 thats probably on the verge of needing a new clutch. I was wondering if there is anybody in the valley who is equipped to assist me with putting a new clutch in the car.

I was also gearing up to set the valve lash in my car, but don't have the shim bucket depresser tool. Does anybody have one that I could borrow or buy? My friend and I both have 90's and I'd probably do both of the cars at the same time.

Does anybody offhand know what the shim diameter for these cars are?

Thanks.

Talk to nick97 on this Forum, he's the clutch master around these parts and he's very reasonable.

The shims are 29 mm in diameter, the same used by a few *** bike makers, however, be careful when buying them from FleaBay, because there is also a 29.5 mm shim used on some bikes.

Had to delete the for sale ad, sorry. You have to put all for sale ads in the SHO Trader section. You can put a link to that ad afterwards in here though.

I'll do it. Provided of course I can use the Dooleyville rack -I'll cut you in Tom:). PM me if you want it done. Pehaps we can make a meet out of it.

No need to cut me in Nick, I'm just happy to help. You know the rules on clean up and breakage. A meet sounds okay to me but my calendar has filled up fast. PM me when you hear back from him.

I would be glad to help out so I can learn.

I think my car will need a new clutch soon. When I start the car I keep the clutch pushed in until I engage reverse so it doesn't grind. Lately it will grind anyway, which makes me think it is a bad TOB not letting the clutch completely disengage. Does that sound right? I now put it in second to stop the input shaft rotation and quickly put it in reverse. I wonder how long until the symptoms get worse?

Thanks for all the replies. Yes, I was from Michigan, and very active with the forum. I kind of dropped off the map after my mint 1990 with only 43,000 miles was totaled by an inattentive female driver.

Nik, I'll send you a PM so we can work something out.

Mike, I remember you. We had a good time at that large meet at Speed Lane or whatever that huge performance shop was.

Don't get too excited to see the new car, it's bone stock complete with faded paint. I just got a good deal on the car and it costs less to drive around than my 460 equipped Bronco. I still love it though, and made a good enough impression that my friend ended up buying a 1991 also.

Hope to see you around soon.

Lane Automotive (I just remembered that)...we will be headed that way again at the convention in July I imagine. It was your red SHO that got me looking for nice gen 1's. Found 2.
