I just got a 1995 SHO MTX. The radio and CD player worked just fine the first day and then just quit. I put a CD in the bottom CD changer and it worked fine. After work I tried to turn the stock system on and it would not come on. When I push the power button the power antenna tries to go up but comes right back down. The lights on the system work but thats it. I checked the fusses and all seem fine. Does anyone know what could be wrong.

I tested my amp by putting in a amp bypass cable that comes with an aftermarket install kit. the stock radio will sound extremley crummy with the bypass cable installed, but if you hear any sound no matter how grainy with the cable installed, and no sound with the amp installed its a bad amp.

Thanks, where can I find this bypass cable. My car has a CD/radio as one component and a 6 disk CD changer below that, both made by ford. The person who sold me the car said he added the bottom one. anyway, like I said both worked fine for about two days then just quit for no reson. Worked one day until I turned the car off. Now when I push the power botton the only thing that happens is the antenna tries to go up then comes right back down.

Audio question about 95 MTX

I still have not found the problem with my stock stereo. All the AMP wires seem OK. No fuses are blown. When I push the power botton the antenna tries to go up then comes right back down, nothing else. Someone mentioned that there is an AMP bypass cable already under the dash that is not being used. Is this correct. Can I pluge my stock radio into it? Sure would appreciate more help with this problem.

Yes, from what I have always heard there is an extra bypass cable you can use, although I have never looked for it myself.
