Hey bro, I bought a 1995 automatic tranny, red, sho a month and a half ago and I am real satisfied. One of the biggest problems with atx with miles is the tranny itself. Feel every shift to see if there's any slipping, harsh downshifts, or major fluid leaks. Look at the fluid to see if there's any metal on the dipstick. Ask if a 69k valve adjustment has been done, timing belt replacement, spark plugs. Make sure you check everything out before you buy it. My uncle and I checked every single electronic gizmo out, cruise, keyless entry, autolamp, etc. And run a carfax if possible to see if there was any problems in the past. Sho's are a overall excellent car if well taken care of. But we don;t know how they were treated before we bought them though. How much are they asking for it? One more thing, get behind it when someones starts it to check for any smoke, especially oil smoke. Have fun with "Da Sho".

69K valve adjustment? LOL! It's the ***** valve adjustment. :D :p

Ignore the people that tell you MTX is the only way to go. I myself prefer an MTX, but my daily driver has a built ATX that shifts faster than I could ever shift in an MTX. My only word of warning, and I think everyone will agree, save about $2500 for a new tranny. It will go out. frown

And if I'm not mistaken the '93 ATX tranny was the worst of em all.
Yes it was. When FPS builds their trannys, they use the 94/95 cores.

Cool congrands man on your sho!! You picked the right year!! But yea the tranny is the biggest problem on the 93's how many miles is on it. You could go get a tranny flush done and get full syn in there. And get a d4u1 computer from the 94-95 atx'sto helpout the shifts. do a plug and plug wire change and oil filter. And the sho should be running good for a while. :) But remeber. The sho will brake down some time. You will get ****** and want to sell it. Cause it is so much trouble. And then u will get it fixed. And you will fall in love with it all over again! thumbs_u Enjoy your new sho!

I bought a 93 mtx w/90,000 in june for 1000. It does have a very fixable front left smack, and an even lighter rear left bit of damage. I figure that with my own labor I can make it look like new including a complete paint job for another grand.

So, not to burst your bubble, but, sounds like you got an OK deal, not a great one. As for the blue book, it is meaningless unless somebody runs into you.

Although someone on this forum thinks that '93 is the right year, I beg to differ. Here's a list of what changed from '93 to '94:

Larger front brake rotors; retuned suspension; CFC-free air conditioning; liquid-filled motor mounts; body-color door handles; divot in wheels' center cap removed; blackout window moulding; revised D4U1 computer in the ATX; revised ATX.

Here's a list of what changed from '94 to '95:

New windshield glass designed to reduce heat build-up in the interior; revised climate control with stronger buttons less prone to cracking; revised ATX.

The only downside to the '95 ATX would be that many were built with the SLO rear springs, as if they had run out of the ones designed for the SHO.

Later.
