I purchased a one-owner 1993 SHO with 118,000 miles on the original Yamaha engine. The car never had any engine mods or anything remotely performance added by the original owner or myself. I've owned the car for about 2-months and now it is leaking oil onto the manifold - so it seems. It is at its worst when driving on the highway... city driving doesn't seem to have a big effect on it. I haven't noticed any performance loss. Although I have also noticed that after a 60 or so mile highway drive not only is the oil leaking onto the manifold but twice the transmission dipstick pushed up causing transmission fluid to leak.

I can only see that the oil is leaking behind the engine near the firewall. Could this be a PCV valve problem? Gaskets?

To my knowledge the car hasn't had the 60,000 mile maintenance.

Otherwise the car runs excellent! Can someone offer an opinion?

Thanks in advance.

As stated above you probably need your valve cover gaskets replaced. A very straight forward job that can take a few hours.

If your transmission dipstick is being pushed up and fluid is coming out of it then the transmission is severely overfilled and needs to be drained and refilled to it's proper level.

Thanks, Doug. I should have mentioned that the dipstick thing happened twice and both times I checked the fluid afterwards and it was 2-quarts low.

In between the transmission bell housing and the side cover there is a vent. It will look like a little silver cap that should just freely spin around and move about. It is quite possible that your vent is plugged and when she gets good and hot on the highway, she is letting the dipstick tube release the pressure and fluid. I would investigate that, as it could make the front seal blow out next time.
