1993 Atx problem, please help

Hello all, newbie here but not to SHOs, I have three, But my 93 acts like it goes into neutral, I have read it could be the alum pump housing breaking? it only does it once in a while. I have pulled the codes and it says the VSS, and TPS are the culprits. Would a VSS cause the car to go into a neutral like mode? The tranny otherwise shifts fine. It seems like after driving it a while is when it acts up. Stop at stop sign and have it in drive and delyed engagement occurs. Put it in second manually and it will go. I would think that if the car has something broken it would be working this way all the time.

the VSS will cause hard shifting, no downshifting when you want it to, downshifting when you dont want it to, and sometimes holding out shifts till 4000...
